Mediation:
Mediation is a voluntary dispute resolution process, in which a trained
mediator facilitates a discussion to resolve any disputes or disagreements
between the parties. Each party shares his or her thoughts regarding the
disputed matters, and the mediator assists the parties in coming to a
mutually acceptable agreement. Mediation is a confidential procedure between
the parties.
Conciliation:
Conciliation is a voluntary dispute resolution process, in which a neutral
party helps the parents identify the issues and attempts to assist the
parties resolve any issues. If the issues are unresolved, many districts
in Kansas permit the conciliator to report back to the Court and make
recommendations for resolution of the issues.
